Juliet's Christmas tree

I haven't posted any Christmas trees this year but I do have a few nice pics and this is one of them. This is certainly the most unusual of Christmas trees and it couldn't have been more appropriate! Love notes and letters decorate the tree below Juliet's balcony.

Act 11 - SCENE II. Capulet's orchard.

Enter ROMEO

JULIET appears above at a window….

But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks?!!
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief,
That thou her maid art far more fair than she:
Be not her maid, since she is envious;
Her vestal livery is but sick and green
And none but fools do wear it; cast it off.
It is my lady, O, it is my love!
O, that she knew she were!
She speaks yet she says nothing: what of that?
Her eye discourses; I will answer it.
I am too bold, 'tis not to me she speaks:
Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven,
Having some business, do entreat her eyes
To twinkle in their spheres till they return.
What if her eyes were there, they in her head?
The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars,
As daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heaven
Would through the airy region stream so bright
That birds would sing and think it were not night.
See, how she leans her cheek upon her hand!
O, that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that cheek!

JULIET
Ay me!!!!!

ROMEO
She speaks:
O, speak again, bright angel! for thou art
As glorious to this night, being o'er my head
As is a winged messenger of heaven
Unto the white-upturned wondering eyes
Of mortals that fall back to gaze on him
When he bestrides the lazy-pacing clouds
And sails upon the bosom of the air.

JULIET
O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?!!!!??!!!!!...
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a Capulet.

ROMEO
[Aside] Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?.......

And so the tragic story continues…in all its timeless beauty and splendor.

If it were here and now in the 21st century, Romeo would have communicated this from the garden by text message from his ‘Nokia’, and thus Juliet would have responded from the balcony above with yet more frantic texting from her ‘i-phone’.

The resultant sounds of key’s frantically clicking, cell-phone message tones reverberating and Juliet’s over excited squeals as she reads each new message would have been unbearably pulsating for all to hear.

Romeo’s spelling would have been dreadful, while Juliet’s abbreviated text version would have been impossible to follow for anyone over the age of 20, and then just before the end of the scene – Romeo would have run out of credit on his phone, meaning he would have to leave the set in a hurry to beg the use of Mercutio’s phone, and by the time he returned, Juliet’s phone would have run out of battery charge….and so on.. and so on. Hmmm.

Please forgive me. I couldn’t help myself here! Great picture. Didn’t realize the actual balcony existed. Love your ‘Blog’ Valeria. Fascinating, informative and inspirational. Your photography work is exceptional. I have much to read, learn and enjoy here over the coming months. So pleased I just ‘tripped over’ your site. Best wishes for 2011 from a cold and wet UK. Back soon.
