Holidays!

Verona Daily Photo goes on holiday!

I want to thank all my friends on DP for their constant support and encouragement. I regret I can't keep up with commenting your beautiful sites as much as I'd like to...but surely they inspire me a great deal!

I will be back in town and on the blog from the beginning of september. Have a great summer, a big hug to all of you!

Sultry evening

It's been quite hot lately but yesterday and today it got really really sultry, almost suffocating. I took a walk with my daughter in the evening but the usual freshness that comes with the dark hour, failed to arrive. This is Piazza Erbe, cafés packed with people. This one, in particular has those special nebulizers that give a little relief...

The stalls of Piazza Erbe

Late evening. Stalls are especially designed to be safely closed for the night and towed out of the square on saturday evenings. A close glance on the polished surface of a kiosk, reflecting the Torre de' Lamberti.

Love letters

Every single day, from 9 in the morning till the evening, the gate to Juliet's house are opened to an incessant passage of visitors. I was rather tempted...

Shower with a view!

Palazzo della Ragione, now an exhibition centre, seems to have a rather impressive bathroom with a shower corner (surely unfinished and without proper shades...) that overlooks Piazza dei Signori!

Two at the window

It's really, really hot here in Italy... That couple watching down from their windowsill look quite naked... But, apart from them, this is one of my favourite buildings, just opposite the café al Ponte (see my entry yesterday). It is a bit let down but it still preserves its beauty.

Cocktail on the river

Caffé al Ponte, near Ponte Pietra is one of the very few cafés/restaurant with a terrace straight on the Adige river. It's small and cosy, with a ...refreshing view!

Through the hole

Peeping through one of the holes in the thick roman marble of the ancient Ponte Pietra, 100 BC. Note the neat track dug by the boats' mooring lines, throughout the centuries.
