When I was little there was a shop like this one near our home. My mum used to shop there every day. We didn't have any big (or even medium size!) supermarkets, back in our small town in Tuscany. The "alimentari" is a little drugstore that sells basic, everyday stuff like bread, pasta, coffee, salumi and cheese, a bit of fruit and vegs, canned tomatoes, biscuits and bit of cleaners.
I snapped this photo as I was stuck at the traffic light! The window reflects the buildings and the sky in front of the shop.

It's such a classic nostalgic image. What a beautiful sight to see when stuck in trafffic.
I'd take this before any supermarket!
So sentimental for me!
I like such a nostalgic small shop.
Nice photo, It has a wonderful atmosphere.
Looks like a great little shop.
Quaint and charming. I like it!
The ipermercatos are great, but this is truly charming and so nostalgic.
I am a bit ashamed to say that I like supermarkets and enjoy these little, wonderful shops only as photographic 'targets'!
You captured so many beautiful colors here! I agree with Vogon Poet, however, alimentari may be cute but prices are lower at the supermarket!
When we were young, there were no supermarkets in Thessaloniki also, neither much money in pocket,so we used to buy the everyday essentials from our neighbourhood shop, called "mpakaliko" in Greek.
(With your photos you do make me think of Verona as one of the most beautiful cities in the world!)
She must hang that garlic for a particular reason :) Same when I was a little, my mum used to ask me to go to the nearest little shop for everyday stuff. A supermarket was far and only visited for special occasions. Thanks for the nice old moment you shared with us.
I hate supermarkets, and when I see photos like this one, I hate them even more!
Un angolo delizioso!!!
E che bei colori!!!
This is an absolutely beautiful photo. And thanks for telling us about the reflection. I clicked to enlarge the photo and am amazed at the scenery on the other side of the street.
