Glass of wine

I'd like to offer you a good glass of Valpolicella at the Enoteca Osteria Carroarmato!
This is one of my favourite places to eat a simple but delicious meal in a historical building. I love their massive and long old tables to share with others, in the big hall with its high ceiling and ancient wooden beams. This Osteria has been here for many, many decades and it is among the very typical ones in town.

Invitation to the Osteria

This is one of the most typical wine bars in town, it's called "Le Vecette" (dialect for le vecchiette, the old ladies), as you can see embroidered on the white linen curtain.
Wine bars here are welcoming and cosy, quite little and lined with wine bottles. Valpolicella, a territory near Verona produces one of the best wines of Italy and the Amarone is the fourth bigger seller in Italy, read more.
This osteria gets really crowded for aperitivi, before dinner. You can have a good glass of wine and some crostini, either sitting at the table or standing at the bancone (bar).
The atmosphere is warm, and I love it especially in winter when outside it's cold and rainy...

Wine bar and womand-gladiators!

Last february this old wine shop was undergoing a total refit and I made a post about it, expressing my hope that the old sign wouldn't be replaced by a modern one and wondering what kind of shop would soon use this premises.

A few days ago I stopped to admire the renovation and was much happy to notice that it wasn't transformed into the hundredth clothing shop. In fact it now hosts a very cosy and welcoming little wine bar run by Lorenzo, also founder of the Malacarne bar and cultural association.

While I was taking the photos the two girls passed by: they were going to work! Dressed up like woman-gladiators, they were walking to their working place in front of the Arena, just a few steps away from here, where their male colleagues were probably already being photographed with tourists...
