Commercial Easter


Easter embodies many pre-christian traditions. The name probably comes from Eastre, the name of a goddess of spring and fertility. The tradition associated with this ancient festival survive in the Easter rabbit, a symbol of fertility and in colored eggs to represent the rebirth and the sunlight of spring. I like to think of Easter this way.

    Your title of "Commercial Easter" is right on the mark. I think most people would prefer a "traditional Easter" to a commercial Easter, just as they would for Christmas.

    I always find it interesting that pastel colors are so associated with Easter. It makes for colorful photographs. :)

    I definitely prefer a more spiritual Easter, but this is fun too — especially for a big kid like me! Like, I'm mighty interested in that huge, green, be-ribboned egg :D

    Personally, I like the symbolism of the chocolate easter eggs and bunnies for Easter.
